Alice and Jakob

Since Adam is now so in to skiing he decided to go again this morning. Today him and Andreas went to Måttsund, the bigger slope here in Luleå and Jakob and I went to see Maria and Alice instead.
This is how I found Jakob and Alice when they both had run upstairs and suddenly got really quiet. I am starting to get a bit worried... Jakob is only 2 and Alice not even 3...

Downhill skiing

Earlier in the week Adam shocked me by coming home with slalom skiis one day. I thought it would be one of those things that just sits in the garage and never gets used. I was wrong. Yesterday he had his first try with his "instructor" Andreas who is kindly helping Adam to learn. They went to a small family slope only a few minutes from where we live and Adam really liked it! Unfortunatley I wasn't there with the camera...

Sigrid and Elvin

Yesterday afternoon Sigrid and Elvin came to visit. Jakob really likes and looks up to Elvin who is 2 years older than him. He wants to do everything Elvin does.

Cross country skiing!

Yesterday the weather was really amazing, warm sunny and no wind at all. We went to see Maria, Andreas and Alice and brought our new ski's and also Moa's ski's for Jakob to try. Both Jakob and Adam did really really well even though Jakob gave up after about 5 min.
Maria is 38 weeks pregnant so she took it easy and so did I. We just took care of the kids and played in the snow when the boys went out in the forest for a bit of cross country skiing.

After a few hours in the snow we had home made pizza at Maria's place and the kids played for a bit before we left to let Jakob have a sleep in the car.
Earlier in the week I got my parents to buy some proper covers for the windows that will keep Jakob's room dark even when it is light outside. It is working pretty well and since they put it up Jakob has been sleeping until between 6-6.40 in the morning. A lot better than 4.30-5...

A day in Ale!

Today was a really beautiful sunny spring day here in Luleå. The temperature was around 0 degrees with a lot warmer in the sun. We spent most of the day in Ale by the Ale river together with mormor and morfar, Anders, Helena, Moa and Lucas, Åsa and Mikael and Åke. Mormor and morfar got there before everyone else to start the fire and get everything ready and they also brought the food for the day, sausages and hamburgers that we cooked on the open fire and the bbq. Åsa and Mikael also brought some home made dough so that we could make "stick bread" that you grill yourself in the fire. So good!
The place where we were looked stunning with the blue sky and the white snow. When we first got there Jakob was in a pretty bad mood but luckily it turned around after he had some yummy sausages to eat.

Cooking sausages on a wooden stick is a very Swedish thing and here Jakob tries it for the first time ever.

Jakob and Moa had a show singing and dancing together. Every now and then Jakob put his arm around Moa. He really likes her.

Shoveling snow is still one of Jakob's favourite things to do. I wish his dad felt the same...

Family photo

Since I am the one almost always behind the camera we don't have many photos of the 3 of us. Here is one with Jakob screaming and wanting to get down.

Going down the slope

After being a bit scared in the beginning Jakob gained some more confidence and decided to have a go on the pulka with Moa. Adam carried them up and off they went!

They both loved it and did not want to stop.

Jakob and Moa playing together

You can really tell that Jakob is getting older. He is starting to play with other kids and today him and Moa walked of to the side and started playing on their own.
Jakob tried to pull Moa in the pulka but he didn't get very far.

They swapped so that Moa could try to pull Jakob but she didn't get very far either.

Helping morfar

Jakob did a great job helping morfar cover all the hot coles from the bbq with some snow.

He also helped pack up the portable bbq that morfar and mormor had brought for the day.

The cousins

Lucas slept the whole time we were together. He looked so comfortable sleeping in the pram out in the beautiful spring weather.

Jakob and Moa hanging out after a fun day together in the snow.

Adam learns to "sparka"

Living in snow for the first time in his life, Adam is learning new things every day, that for us Swedish people is something we grew up with. In the photo Maggi is showing Adam how to use the "spark". He did really well!

Jakob got a ride on the spark too!

Lots of lambs!

Åsa took us down to where the sheep are kept to see some of the newborn lambs. Jakob was a bit scared in the beginning and wanted to be carried by daddy.
After a while he was happy to get down as long as he got to hold Moa's hand.

He felt even better when he got to hold mormors hand too.

Finally he wasn't very scared anymore and tried to pat one of the lambs when it was running past.

Elvin's birthday party

Saturday morning we took Jakob for a walk in the pram in to the city. He was quite unahppy when we got there, I think he was a bit cold, but his mood picked up after a while and he fell asleep in the pram on the way home.
In the afternoon we went to Elvin's birthday party. There were about 6 kids there in various ages and even though Jakob had a great time I think he was a bit disappointed that he didn't get to have Elvin to himself.
In the photo Sigrid is helping Jakob to fish for a bag of goodies. He loved it.

Jakob was so proud of himself when he got his bag. On top of that, all the kids were leaving and since Jakob was the last one to leave he had about 20 min playtime with Elvin on his own. He did everything Elvin did, laughed when he laughed, jumped when he jumped, and run after him the whole time. It was a happy but tired boy that we brought home that night.

A bit sick

The week has been good but we have all been very busy. I have been starting work about 5.30 in the morning a few days, Adam has been busy with Swedish lessons and work, and Jakob has been a bit sick the last couple of days. He had a good start of the week, on Monday he didn't want to come home from child care at all. The kids were playing outside when I came to pick him up and he just said JoJo skotta snö! which means Jakob shovel snow.
Today he spent the whole day with mormor and morfar so that Adam and I could work. Thank you so much! As always Jakob had a great day and they took him out for lunch and also went shopping. He still has a runny nose but seems happy and has no temperature.
The other day when Adam and I sat in the kitchen Jakob came in with my ear plugs in his ears. I keep them next to my bed and he must have seen me using them. He looked so funny with them in his ears.

Another day with Alice

Last Sunday we went to Leos's again, for the second weekend in a row. Jakob really likes it there and so do Adam and I. This time we met up with Alice and Maria and Andreas, and also an Irish guy from Adam's Swedish course and his family.
Jakob and Alice were really happy to see each other and when they first met in the car park they ran towards each other and hugged and kissed. As son as they got inside Alice took off and wasn't really so interested in Jakob any more but at the end of the day when they were quite tired they had a cuddle and a kiss.

Both Alice and Jakob loved being in front of the camera and kept posing when I asked them to.

Saturday night

Adam had a boys dinner tonight so after the basket ball game Maria and Andreas invited me to come to their place for dinner. The kids made a great mess of Alice room as you can see, but had fun as always. Jakob loved the dinner and wanted more after he had finished a big serve of chicken with pasta. We got home just before home and after reading a book Jakob ran to bed exhausted after a long fun day!

Basketball

This afternoon Jakob went to his first basketball game ever. I used to watch a lot of basketball before I moved to Australia but this was the first game for me since I moved back.
At first I think Jakob was in a bit of a chock, he just sat on the chair and starred at the game.

At the break Jakob and Alice went crazy and danced, jumped and screamed. They were so cute.

After the break Jakob got in to the basket ball a bit more and clapped his hand and looked for the ball. About 20 minutes before the end he started getting really bored and we spent the end running around chasing each other and walking up and down the stairs. Adam was also there watching the game with our friend Jocke.

Jakob's first ever haircut!!!

Today my auntie Maggie came over to give Jakob his first haircut. I have prepared him the last couple of days by telling him how Maggi is going to cut his hair, and I have pretended to cut with my fingers etc. He seemed to be ok with the whole thing, but I was still a bit nervous that he wouldn't let her do it. Luckily it went really well. He sat in his highchair in front of the tv the whole time.
I think he actually liked it. Tonight he even said to me "Maggi more cut hair".

He thought it was really funny when the hair fell down on the tray in front of him.

Almost done and Jakob and Maggi both did a great job!

After the haircut Jakob and Maggi were best friends and had a snack together on the couch. Thanks a lot for your help Maggi!!!

Jakob and Alice

This morning Adam had to go to a meeting in Kalix so he left at 9. Maria and Alice came to visit and as always the kids had a lot of fun together. They couldn't stop hugging each other when sitting next to each other at the kitchen table.

After something to eat they started running around and also played some music and danced together.

Alice even got to have a ride on Jakob's tractor.

Fun with Moa

This photo was taken earlier in the week when Anders and Moa came to visit one night when I was in Södertälje. Check out Jakob's hair and compare with the photos after his haircut!
