Back from France!

A few days ago Adam, Jakob and I got back after a great holiday in France. Below are some photos from Paris but there are more to come from our stay in Brest on the west coast of France. Overall the trip was great! we loved Paris and were lucky to have really good weather, sunny and fresh with beautiful autumn colours. The only negative is that Adam got sick and had to take it very easy when we got to Brest. Could have been the swine flu, who knows, but so far the rest of us are feeling well.

The train to Brest...

After 4 nights and some great days in Paris we got on the fast TGV train to Brest. Jakob was so good on the train! he played games, looked at people around us and tried to talk to them, watched cows and horses through the window, ate sandwiches etc. He was very tired but it took him until nearly the end of the trip before he finally gave in...
He had a very nice 45 min kip before we got to Brest and we were all very happy about how the trip went.

Sightseeing in Paris

Trying to see the Arc of Triumph from a distance.

After lots and lots of walking we finally got there...

Enjoying Paris

A couple of times Adam and I managed to have lunch when Jakob was asleep in the pram. This photo is from one of those occasions but since we stayed until Jakob woke up again I made sure to save some food for him to eat when he woke up. The delicious choclate mousse that I had was gone long before that though....

Jakob in a Park in Paris.

Jakob in a playground that we went to two times. It was fun to se the difference between him and the French kids. I have to say that Swedes are good at dressing kids in clothes that are approriate to the weather conditions. In Paris fashion seemed to be more important, even for children.

Montmartre

One day we walked from the hotel to beautiful Montmartre and on the walk we passed this cemetary.

Jakob did great sitting in the pram when we were walking around but we made sure that we stopped for breaks to let him play or eat.

We didn't make it up to Sacre Ceur but there was a playground at the bottom of the hill where Jakob could play and Adam and I could enjoy the atmosphere and the views.

Paris!!

These "things" (don't know what they are called in English) could be found everywhere in Paris and Jakob loved looking at them going around around and around. He kept saying he wanted to try and once we even bought a ticket but when it came to his turn he was too scared. In the end we had to give his ticket to another family.

Travelling to Paris

After a 30 min delay from Luleå the plane finally took off for Stockholm. We only had 1.15 between flights in Stockholm so being late from Luleå was very stressful. Somehow we made it and Jakob did well travelling on the two planes and fell asleep in the pram on the way to the hotel in Paris.

Jakob loved the hotel room and with a bag of chips it was easy to feel comfortable. Adam and I also really liked the hotel, clean, warm, big enough, child friendly, english speaking staff, excellent location, good breakfast, tv and dvd player, a bath, what else do you need?

And again...

Jakob had his own bed in the hotel room.

Holidays!

Today I worked my last day at work for 12 days! On Saturday we are flying to France. We are spending 4 nights in Paris and 5 nights in Brest with my best friend Karin and her husband Vincent, and their kids Felicia (my goddaughter) and Anna. They have never met Jakob before and I have never met Anna before so we are really looking forward to spending some time together. Karin and I have known each other since we were 2 and are a bit like sister as well as best friends.
This week has been busy as always. The new heating system has finally been put in. All the new radiators got turned on today so from now on we should have a very warm house to a very low cost. There are still some little things for the guys to come back and fix but the main part of it is done. Because we are going away I have had some extra work to do at work but I think I managed to finish everything I had to do before leaving. Luckily Adam's work has slowed down so he can pick up Jakob from dagis when I have to stay a bit later at work. Yesterday Adam was in Kalix so mormor and morfar picked up Jakob from dagis and I left work normal time to go home and start packing Jakob's stuff for the trip. My own I will probably do the night before we leave but I want to make sure that Jakob's clothes are clean and put away. It is amazing how much I can get done in a short time since I had Jakob. To have a couple of hours without him in the hosue sometimes is worth so much. I did more in those two hours than I used to be able to do in a week before I had him I think.

Last weekend

Last weekend feels like months ago. Have to try and think back to what we did. Saturday Adam and I worked quite hard around the house, me inside the house and Adam changed tyres on both cars. Mum and dad had Jakob for a few hours so that we could get as much as possible done. Saturday night Adam had a boys dinner and I had Carina over for a very nice night with dinner, sauna, fruit salad and lots of talking. The next morning Jakob and I got up early to let Adam have a good sleep after his big party the night before. After some quiet time at home we went to the riding club for a few hours. He is such a good helper! he helps me clean out all the manure, fill up water buckets, put food in buckets for the horse and hay in bags etc. He really likes it. After the riding club we went home for a quick lunch with Adam, and then left him to go back to bed, and went to Ale to celebrate Åsa's brithday. After the birthday party with lots of fun play with Moa, we went to Maggi's house so that Jakob could have a haircut. He did so well! Sat still the whole time even though he got restless at the end. After he was really proud and told everyone, also at dagis, about his new haricut.

After having to sit still it was time for running and Jakob and Moa ran down the corridor in the house about 40 times throwing themselves in to mormor and morfars arms.

The kids also got to visit the sheep. Hard to imagine that Jakob was so scared of them less than a year ago. Now he wants to climb in to them.

Andreas was putting on winter tyres on their car and Jakob and Moa were really interested.

Friday night

Tonight we had dinner at Anders and Helenas place. It feels like we haven't seen them for a long time so it was nice to spend some time together. Jakob has been very bad at eating the last week so he didn't eat much at all and could not sit still.... until the ice cream was served. He just loves it!
Lucas is now 7 months and has grown so much since I last saw him. He can now sort of crawl, or at least move himself across the floor. He looks a lot like Jakob when he was a baby I think

A morning with Finn

This morning Jakob and I escaped from the house with all the heating work going on, and went to meet up with Zara and Finn in the city. We went to baby singing class that is organised by the church. It was really really good! the place opens at 9 in the morning and has lots of toys for kids to play with. They also sell sandwiches, cakes, coffee etc for adults, and it's free for kids. At 10.30 the singing starts and it goes for about half an hour. There are kids from newborns to about 5 and they get to sing, run around, dance and play instruments.
After some singing and playing we took the kids to Max, the local hamburger place for some unhealty lunch. Adam joined us as well which was nice!

Jakob having a bath

Jakob loves having a bath and since we don't have a big bath tub he uses his old baby one. It doesn't seem to bother him, he loves it.
Jakob did something very funny the other weekend when we were at the riding club. We saw a girl who was about 20, with black hair and dark make up and mainly black clothes. When walking past her Jakob looked at her and asked: Are you spiderman? I am not sure if she heard or if she just pretended to not hear. It was so cute and funny, but also made me realise that he is getting to the age when he easily can say things that will hurt people, without meaning it.

Photos from my weekend away

I didn't take many photos when I went away for the weekend but here is a few. This is my friend Karin and me. The photo is taken at her parents house were we went for dinner one night.

One night we went out for a really nice 3 course dinner in Västerås. In this photo you can see Karin trying out the entree.

This is me in the Old town in Stockholm showing my belly 23 weeks pregnant.

A little update...

Once again I have been crap at updating the blog. Time is flying away from me and life has been very busy after I came home from my weekend trip. Jakob has had a cold, but is feeling better now and has been to day care all week. We are also putting in a new heating system in our house and that is taking some time and energy. There are lots of decisions to make to try to make it look as good as possible. There will be pipes running everywhere in the house so it is important to try to make them as invisible as we can. Not easy and it will not look perfect but I think when it is all over we won't think about it so much, and the best of all, we will have much better and cheaper heating in the house.
Work is also busy at the moment. Because we are going to France for 10 days I have a lot do do before we go. Good fun though, I like being busy at work.
I will put in some more photos soon!
