Bedtime

We have a pretty strange bedtime routine with the kids. Not sure how it all started but Jakob loves competing and running and never gets enough of it. The routine is that we race everywhere. First from the tv room to the bathroom, then in to Isak's room to put him to bed, and last of all in to Jakob's room. Sometimes it is a crawling race and sometimes it a running race.

Isak happy to be in bed after a fun day playing!

Now both kids are asleep and Adam is in the city. I have just done the preparations for tomorrows treasure hunt and now I am nearly ready for bed!

The day before the day...

Tomorrow Jakob is having his birthday party and for the first time he has invited his friends from dagis. He is very excited about it all and has been counting down the days for a couple of weeks now. Adam and Jakob went skating this afternoon and I stayed home and baked for the party when Isak had his afternoon sleep. I am crap at baking so luckily mum has helped to fill up the freezer with some goodies.

For Christmas I gave Adam an evening cooking class and Zara gave Micke the same so today was the day to learn Italian cooking! Zara came over with the kids and had dinner with us when the big boys went to their class. We look forward to some delicious dinners in the near future...

Jakob is obsessed with his hockey gear and would wear his helmet in bed if he was allowed.

Lykke and Isak

Saturday morning

This morning Carina and Nelly came over for a play and a sauna. Jakob went with Adam to a innebandy match so Isak and I had a sauna with the girls. It was Isaks second try and this time it went better than last time and he stayed in there for about 10 minutes. After the sauna he was very tired and managed to lay on the floor playing and relaxing at the same time.

Skates for Isak

This morning we bought some second hand skates for Isak. Finally he gets to try it too!!

Winter

My office at work is in the middle of the factory with no windows so when I am there, I have no idea of what the weather is outside. At this time of the year it is dark when I go in there in the morning (starts at 7am) and dark when I leave in the afternoon. The only time I see day light is during my lunch break and I have to say that we are coming in to a beautiful time of the year up here in the north. The other day when I left the bunker to go for lunch I just had to take a photo with my phone. I love it!

Tough day...

Monday morning Jakob had another appointment with the dentist. He said to me in the car on the way there that he didn't want to because he didn't want to pull another tooth out. That is the first time he says he doesn't want to go. He got over it quickly though and seemed happy to see Torbjörn the dentist. Since Jakob has had pain in one tooth the dentist decided to pull it out (or wiggle it out... that's what he says to Jakob). It went really well again and it is much quicker pulling the teeth out than trying to fix it so Jakob doesn't seem to mind at all. When we where leaving Jakob was very quiet and looked a bit sad so I stayed with him at dagis for a while and he was happy to just sit with me and relax for quite some time. When I left him he was ok but seemed very low and didn't seem up for playing. Later on when I called dagis they told me that he was fine and playing like normal and ate without problem. His next appointment was Friday this week but we had to reschedule it to next Friday. Probably not a bad thing...

At work they had some tickets available to the corporate box at the ice hockey so I decided to take Jakob. I knew he would be tired after his big morning but he coped well and watched the whole match. Even in the break he just stood there watching the ice asking millions of questions to one of my work mates who gave much better answers than me. Jakob is really in to hockey at the moment.

Riding club...

Adam and Jakob went to the hockey today and Isak and I spent some time at the riding club together with Stina and Lova. Isak likes it there, he has always been very interested in animals.

Stina and I spent some time in the office and the kids had some fika on the floor

They also ran up and down the corridor about 200 times and only had a short rest to have some grapes before going again.

Sleepy

I can't quite get used to Isak's ability to sleep and relax! don't get me wrong, he can be extremly active as well, but he just loves sleeping. Last night I put him down at 7pm and this morning Adam woke him up at 8.30. I wonder what he does in there. Maybe he is awake for a couple of hours in the middle of the night? Putting him down in the middle of the day is never a problem either and most days we have to wake him up after about 2 hours. Very strange child but it is a nice change after being used to Jakob waking up around 5 until he was about 2.

One tooth less...

On Friday Jakob went back to the dentist again for the first of hopefully only 3 visits for a long time. He is getting used to it now, he jumps up in the chair, talks to the dentist, opens his mouth and does evertying he is told to do even though the dentist sometimes have to tap on his shoulder to get his attention when he all of a sudden starts focusing on something else i the room.

It started off very well, he got the injection and the dentist told me that he put more anastethic than last time just in case he would have to pull the tooth off. He started the grinding and stopped after a while. He tapped Jakob's shoulder to make him listen and told him that the tooth had a very high fever and wasn't feeling very good. The best would be to "wiggle" it out because otherwiser it might start hurting very soon. I am not sure if Jakob really understood what was about to happen but before we knew it the tooth was out! Jakob was amazing, he handled it great and was only a bit worried about all the blood. When I took him to dagis I stayed there for a bit sitting next to him on a couch checking that the bleeding had stopped. After a while he said: Mummy what are you doing here, why dont' you go to work? I said I just wanted to stay with him for a bit to make sure he was ok. Just go mummy he said then and looked a bit embarrassed about the fact that I was sitting there in the middle of all his friends.

Anyway, it has now been 2 days and he hasn't complained once so so far so good. I am just a bit worried about the next visit on Monday morning. Jakob has told me the last couple of days that one of the other teeth is hurting a bit. That might mean that there is another one that needs to be pulled out agian very soon....

Skating!!

Adam takes Jakob skating most Sundays but I haven't had any skates so I have normally been staying home with Isak. Now I have finally bougth some so last Sunday I had a go for the first time in a couple of year. It was great fun!! Jakob has improved a lot and is so cute on his skates.

Isak was dying to try too and did all the right moves! the only thing missing was the skates.

After daddy had taken him around a bit that was all he wanted to do. We have get him some skates so he can be a part of it!

Memories

I was going through some old photos on a memory stick and thought I'd post some here...

Friends

Tonight we had Maria, Andreas, Alice and Melvin over for dinner. We haven't seen them for a looooong time so it was nice to get together and catch up on everything that has been going on in each others lives. The kids played really well which always makes it easier. They had dinner first and us adults had dinner a bit later.
Isak was going strong until 10 pm, probably the latest every he has been up. Happy as always but also happy to go to bed.

 Cuddling with Maria...
Melvin and Isak

Riding club

After skiing we went home to drop Adam and Isak off and have some fruit and then took off again to the riding club. Jakob is a bit like me. He likes doing stuff and pretty much never says no to going out doing something. Hope it will stay like that!
There were 3 ponies available today and he had one ride on each of them. After that he stood in the indoor arena and watched other kids riding for a long time and did not want to leave.

Ormberget

-8 and sunny, a really nice midwinter day! Jakob was very excited to see the sun and talked a lot about it. We spent the morning at Ormberget. Jakob and I did some skiing and Isak and Adam spent some time getting a fire going so we could grill some sausage. Jakob did really well and after trying some jumps in the slope, that was all he wanted to do. I guess this is just the start. The jumps will get bigger and he will go faster. I remember exactly what it was like when I was a child.

Picnic by the slope. Bumped in to an Aussie guy with his wife and daughter, they joined us for a while.

Daytrip

Today we went to a ski resort about an hour drive from Luleå called Storklinten. Anders and his family has their caravan there all winter so the plan was to meet up with them, but both Moa and Lucas woke up with a fever so they stayed inside and went back to Luleå in the afternoon.

On the way there we saw lots of raindeers next to the road!

Nearly there. Jakob asked "when are we there?" every 5 minutes on the way there. He also suggested that we could drop him off so he could walk because he didn't like sitting in the car for so long. On the way home he slept most of the way and woke up saying how nice it was with a long car ride...
The skiing went really well! The biggest improvement was that Jakob could move forward even when the surface was flat. Last year we had to pull him everywhere, from the car to the slope, from the bottom of the slope to the start of the lift etc. Now he did it really well by himself without complaining! The skiing went well, he fell quite a few times but it didn't stop him from wanting to keep going. We skiied from just after 10 in the morning until about 3 in the afternoon with only a short fika break. Not a bad effort! Adam and I are stuffed and our legs are aching but Jakob the little freak seems fine.

Isak spent the day with mormor today, much appreciated by us since both Adam and I got to ski a lot. We took turns going with Jakob and going up the bigger hill by ourselves. A great day out and I think I will sleep well tonight!! after a week with early mornings I am looking forward to a sleep in tomorrow morning!!

All over the place!

When Jakob was younger I used to take pics of him sleeping in different positons but haven't done it for a while. He used to fall out of bed once every couple of weeks but hasn't done it for a long time now. The last few mornings he has been turning on the tv by himself without coming in to wake us up first. He is getting older.

Cuter then ever...

Isak is just cuter than ever. He is such a nice, stubborn, gentle, cuddly little person. I can't wait for him to start talking, I want to know what's going on inside his little head.

Even when he is angry he is sort of cute. The other night I was about to change his nappy and put his pyjamas on, I normally do it on the couch in the evening. He was already upset with me and Jakob for not getting to play with something, can't remember what. When I wanted to change him he got crazy and started screaming and threw himself on the floor crying. He didn't want to know either of me and Jakob so we just left him alone. After a couple of minutes he walked off crying, in to Jakob's room and we could hear him hitting something  in there and crying on and off. After another 5 mintues, he comes back to the living room looking serious but not upset, picked up the nappy and gave it to me, climbed up on the couch and put his legs up in the air ready to be changed. Probably normal behaviour from a soon to be 2 but I just can't wait for him to talk and tell me what he is thinking! Come on Isak, there must be other words than Ama!
