Garage

Adam has been working all day helping Anders to pull down part of the roof of his house and also his garage. He is buliding a new bigger one this summer. I drove past a couple of times today and the boys have been working very hard but but hopefully got it all done in just one day.

Cinnamon buns!

Today I baked cinnamon buns for the first time ever. It wasn't so easy and it took forever. I thought I had made a mistake because the dough wasn't rising for 20 minutes but after about 50 min it looked much better. I added extra butter and sugar for the filling but I think they still were a bit too dry. I am used to baking cakes that take 15 minutes to prepare and then sit in the oven for 40 minutes. Easy peasy. This exercise took about 3 hours and each tray of buns are only in the oven for about 8 minutes. I nearly burnt a few of them as well. At least I think they look pretty good and if I ever do it again I will do it a bit differently.

They look better than they taste!

The kids were happy eating them and mum too. But like I said, I know they will be better next time!

Jakob's friend Linus was here all day today!

National Day in the rain!

Wednesday earlier in the week was the National Day and a public holiday. It could have been easy to cancel our day trip to Hägnan because of the rain but I am glad we went (we meaning Jakob and I and Helena and the kids). It was cold and rainy but we still had a really nice day.

One of few indoor activities at Hägnan, jumping in the hay! over and over and over again. Jakob loves it.

Waitin for them to let go of the baloons. The boy Jakob is standing next to in the pic is Oscar who we met in Thailand. He was there with his parents and sister staying at the same resort as us for a couple of weeks. We haven't met them since then and none of the boys realised who they were standing next to.

We managed to have a picnic under shelter and it was a bit cold but cosy.

Jakob and Moa!

Mothers Day

Mother's Day started with nice flowers from Jakob and a present from Isak who got really upset when he handed over the present to me and at the same time realised it wasn't for him. Poor little Isak.

Later in the afternoon mum, Anneli and Anders and the family came over for dinner.

Kids playing outside...

Until it got too cold and we all moved inside. Summer is not quite here yet.

After dinner the 4 children went outside riding bikes and tractors etc and after a while Moa came running telling us that Jakob had fallen of his bike and hurt his knee. Adam went to pick him up and in came a crying boy with blood on his leg saying that will never ride a 2 wheel bike again.

Lucky mormor is a nurse and can handle things like this...

For a long time Jakob was just sitting on the sofa relaxin and hugging his teddy.

Anders and Helena brought dessert and in the middle of the crying Jakob said: Do I get to take dessert before everyone else now?

A nice hug from my wonderful Jakob after a great Mother's Day!

Learning...

Jakob is really interested in numbers and asks me questions about numbers all the time. Yesterday he was making sand cakes in the sand pit and was trying to sell some to me. I asked how much his blueberry cake was and got the answer 80kr. That is too expensive I said, I can give you 20. Jakob thought for a while and said, no mummy I can't sell it for 20, but you can have it for 18!
He is getting more and more interested in learning letters and words. He wants to know the firs and last letter of words and try to spell them out loud. Sometimes he gets his toy computer out and sits by himself practicing. It is nice to see him so focus on something that is not related to sport because his sport obsession grows every day.

Eurovision song contest

Adam had a party last Saturday with his floor ball team so the kids and I had the afternoon and evening to ourselves. We played outside, went for a drive looking at boats, went grocery shopping and when Isak went to bed Jakob and I watched the Eurovision Song Contest. He fell asleep after song 7 but I made it to the end and watched Sweden win for the first time in 12 years!

Last weekend

Last weekend it felt like summer with 20 degrees during the days. Today it is 8 degrees and raining. We spent a big part of last weekend outside and Jakob and Isak loved playing with all their summer toys again.

The sandpit is still a big hit!

Tindra, who lives a few houses away, and Jakob play really well together but they also have their arguments. Jakob sometimes says: I am never ever going to play with Tindra again! 10 minutes later she knocks on the door and off he goes playing.

Our neighbours from across the road have 3 boys all older than our children. On Saturday morning they were out working in the garden when they saw Jakob and Isak fighting over a tractor (Adam and I tried to ignore them and let them sort it out themselves). After a while they came over and asked if it was ok if they gave our kids a race car that their boys have grown out of. They also thought that would solve the problem, if they had one veichle each. I thought Isak would be too big for it but somehow he managed to sit at the front of the seat and put his toes on the pedals and start cycling. So what happened was that Jakob and Isak started fighing over the race car. Nice thought though :-)

After a while Isak was back on the tractor again and he is just adorable when he goes around the block looking to proud!

Summer party at day care!

The other week we had the yearly bbq summer party at Jakob's and Isak's day care centre, "dagis". Jakob and Isak go to a mixed dagis with children between 1-6 years old. I think it is great, the small ones learn from the big children and the big ones learn to take care of and help the small children.
The yearly summer party is always very well organised and this year again we were lucky to get a warm and sunny night.

Getting the kids to sit down to eat is not easy when they are full of excitement!

Mormor and Adam having hamburgers and Isak trying to escape from the table.

One of the activites for the evening was a car wash. I got to be the car wash and Jakob was the car. Adam who doesn't like taking photos was quite happy to hold the camera.
Another activity was answering 1 X 2 questions parents with their children. At each station there was one question for the child and one for the parents. The kids questions were pictures of different things and the kids had to guess what they were. Jakob did really well with the tools lik screw driver and hammer but he had no idea what it was when he saw a pic of an iron and a hair dryer. I guess that says a lot about me...

Once a week all the kids sing together and during the evening they showed the parents all the songs they learnt. Jakob loved it but it was hard to get Isak to come and join the others.

But when we finally got him to come he didn't want to leave...

The highlight for the kids was when the old ladies came with bags with goodies (baloons, bubbles and fruit).

Nearly finished!!

The walls in the sauna room are now finished!

Rainy day

Today it has been raining most of the day so the kids have had a pretty quiet day. After lunch I went in to the city to swap a pair of gum boots (Jakobs), buy new gloves for Isak (see the red ones in the pic below) and to have a fika with Carina.

Isak was being out of control before and during dinner (didn't eat anything at all) so I took both him and Jakob outisde after for a bike ride around the block, soccer in the back yard, playing in the sand pit etc etc. It had stopped raining and was really nice.
