Saturday night

Trying to think about what we have been up to the last few days since my last update. Hmmm. Thursday morning I dropped Jakob at dagis and went straigth to the doctor with Isak for his 6 months check up. It went well, no problems as far as the doctor could see. He now weighs abotu 8.3 kg and is 70cm tall. He is smaller than Jakob was at this age but is just above the average curve.
Had lunch with Maria and Melvin in the city and spent the rest of the day with mum and dad. Adam had the day off so he picked up Jakob from dagis so Isak and I decided to spend the night with mum and dad. After Isak went to bed I went met up with Stina and Carina in the city for a chat. Stina who came straight from work had dinner and also a glass of red wine. That was the first time in a very long time that I was a bit jealous and really felt like having a glass too.

Friday morning Isak woke up before 6 and didn't go back to sleep. When I put him down again at about 8.30 I expected him to have a loooong sleep but after only 30min he was awake again. Bad luck for me who also went to bed and had planned a long much needed sleep.
Visited a friend from work who has a one year old boy, nice to catch up on everything that is happening at work and even though I wouldn't like going back there now, it made me miss work a little. The rest of the afternoon mum and I went out doing some shopping for her and Anders was home with dad.

Today the day started early again. I fed Isak at 2.40 and then again just after 5, and again he didn't go back to sleep!!! very frustrating. I got up with him and sat on the floor in the hall and tried to keep him quiet for an hour to not wake Jakob and Adam up. Adam woke up with a very sore eye. He got some sand in it yesterday when playing with Jakob and today he had trouble opening the eye and it was very painful. He went to see a doctor in the morning and found out that he had an infection and needs to put some cream in the eye twice a day. The rest of the day Adam spent in Kalix playing golf and drinking beer with some friends and tonight he is out in the city having fun.
Jakob spent a couple of hours with mum and dad in the morning so I (and Isak) could go to a flea market to look for winter clothes and toys. I didn't buy anything :-( Went back to mum and dad and had pancakes for lunch and helped with a few things around the house. When we got home in the afternoon I was so tired so when Isak had his afternoon sleep I had a rest on the couch when Jakob played by himself. Nice! Jens popped in a bit later and played a bit with Jakob and had dinner with us and not long after he left Carina came over. In between that Adam and his friend Travis also came past to drop off a bag and Adam needed to get changed.
Carina and I spent a few hours on the couch talking talking talking after Jakob and Isak had gone to bed! 10.30pm now and nearly bed time for me. Hopefully I will have something more interesting to write about next time I update the blog. And some new photos!

Productive afternoon...

Jakob's friend Linus at dagis had a little brother 5 weeks ago so Linus now only goes do dagis 15 hours a week, like Jakob. That makes it so much easier to pick Jakob up in the afternoon. He almost always plays with Linus so when Linus also has to go home Jakob comes without problems. At least he did that yesterday and today.
Jakob was very tired tonight but tired in a good way luckily. In between relaxing he showed me his latest breakdance moves that he learnt at dagis. Isak and I very very impressed.

I had a very efficient afternoon where I did some washing, cleaning and cooked some more potatoes and fish for Isak. Jakob was very helpful with all of it including looking after Isak.

Isak is still eating really well. Tomorrow we have an appointment with a doctor (6 months check up) and I look forward to finding out his weight and height.

First time in the stoller!

Isak woke up for his morning feed at 5.15 this morning. Normally he goes back to sleep after that but this morning he decided that he wanted to play in his bed for a while (talk loudly and scratch the wooden bars on the cot with his finger nails) and then do a big poo. At 6 I realised he wasn't going to go back to sleep so we got up, not long after Jakob joined us. Hope this "not going back to sleep after the morning feed" is only a temporary thing...
After dropping Jakob at dagis I quickly went home, then out to buy some plastic containers for baby food and then in to the city. Isak got to try his new stroller for the first time and he loved it!! I did to, it is very easy to push and very easy to fold and unfold, carry etc. We even got to try the rain cover today since it started raining.

After having picked up Isak's new passport from the police station we stopped by at mum and dads to show the new stroller that was a present from them to Isak. Thank you! Before picking up Jakob again I had lunch with my cousin Åsa in the city!

New stroller

Yesterday Adam had the day home so I got a sleep in in the morning. Nice. It was also nice to be able to drop Jakob at dagis and not have to wake Isak, who often sleeps around that time, up since Adam was home. Jakob's best friend Linus is back this week after the summer break and they were so happy to see each other and had played non stop together.

Yesterday the stroller that I have ordered arrived, very exciting! It's a Chicco Liteway and from all the research I have done it seems like a really good stroller. They don't sell it in Luleå and it felt a bit strange ordering a stroller that I have never seen or tried but I am very happy with the result!

One advantage is that the back rest can be folded right back so the child can sleep comfortably in it.

Another imortant feature is the hood that can be moved forward to block the sun.
The stroller also came with a rain cover.
Yesterday I picked up Jakob from dagis by bike and he got to sit in a seat behind me. Halfway home Jakob says to me: Mummy, you have a really big bum!

Lazy Monday

Monday morning both Jakob and I felt really tired so we spent most of the day at home just taking it easy. Later in the afternoon we went to visit mormor and morfar and I also took Isak to the police station to apply for his passport while Jakob stayed with my parents.

Mum's cousin Gullan and her husband who live further up north in the country called and wanted to come by for an hour before catching the train to go home again.

Sunday!

Isak woke up at 7 and Jakob at 7.30 this morning, not too bad. I felt really tired and got a sleep in after I had fed Isak and played with him for a bit. Nice.
When I got up Adam was busy cleaning the Saab so I took the Audi to go in to the city to help mum with dad.

Isak joined me and was happy to get some attention from mormor and morfar.
The neighbours cousins are back in town and Jakob played with Freja most of the morning. When she had to go in the afternoon she was really upset and did not want to leave even though they were going to Leos. Jakob was really nice to her and tried to tell her how fun it is at Leos and that she will have a great time there.

Apart from the trip to mum and dad this morning I have been home all day. Stina and Lova came over for a "fika" in the afternoon, I cooked some baby food, did some washing, chilled on the couch when Jakob was playing happily by himself and Isak was asleep. A good way to finish a weekend!

Tooth number one!

Friday morning I discovered Isak's first tooth. He has been a bit restless at night for the last couple of nights, maybe the new tooth is the reason for it?
The new tooth hasn't yet stopped him from chewing on his toes...

Cray fish party!

Earlier in the week we got invited to Sara and Per for a crayfish party Saturday night. When living in Australia we tried to keep some of the Swedish traditions going and actually had some really good crayfish partys some years (I can't take credit for organising them though...).
The children had hamburgers but Jakob was too busy playing and only sat down for a couple of minutes.

We had a really really nice evening with happy children, nice food, nice dessert and good company.

Isak was happy all night and went to sleep in a travel cot and didn't complain when we picked him up to go home.

Friday with Finn

Adam hasn't been feeling so good this week and decided to stay home from work on Friday. I left the house early so that he could sleep and have the house to himself. Zara was also home with the kids and wanting company so Jakob, Isak and I got there before 9.30 in the morning and spent almost the whole day with them.

Micke came home around lunch time which made Jakob (and Finn of course) very happy.

New car!

Thursday at lunch time Adam and I picked up the new car, an Audi A6 (is that right Adam?). Adam was a bit nervous that he wouldn't like it but as soon as he saw it he started smiling and just said: I like it!
Since Adam hated the Ford so much and also didn't like driving the Volvo 240 that we had in Adelaide I am now very happy that he has a car that he likes. When driving as much as he does to get to work I think it is good that he has a safe car that is comfortable to drive. If it was me buying a car I would probably have chosen something else but I have to admit that it is a very nice car to drive!

Finally gone!

Adam is celebrating tonight because only a couple of hours ago we sold the Ford. Adam has hated the car ever since we bought it and tomorrow he is getting a new car. I haven't even seen the new Audi other than in photos, but as long as Adam is happy, I am happy :-)
We put in an ad on the internet last night at 9.30 so I am quite impressed that we managed to sell the car within 24 hours!

Really nice afternoon!

Today after dagis Sigrid, Elvin and Vina came over to play and have dinner with us. We had a really nice afternoon together. Jakob and Elvin had the greatest time and played in the sand pit, played with footballs and later on inside with different tools etc. So nice to see Jakob have fun with a friend after a few bad experiences latley.

Vina is the cutest little girl and even though she is quite demanding (according to her parents) Sigrid and I got some time to talk in between fixing food and looking after kids.

Lunch in the city!

Today mum and I (and Isak of course) had lunch together in the city when dad had a support person at home with him for 2 hours. Isak amazes me every day with his calm and happy personality and it is hard not to smile when looking at him.
I broguth some delicious potatoes, carrots and broccoli for him with fruit dessert and he ate it all!

Isak's nights are still pretty much the same as they were 4 months ago. I normally feed him twice between 7pm-7am. He sometimes wakes up a few more times but just has a little cry or moves around for a while before he goes back to sleep. Enough to wake me up though... I don't think it is a big problem at this stage but if he keeps waking up like this for another month or so I will do something about it. Not sure what but I will have a good plan before I start. I don't think he is hungry when he wakes up but of course feeding him always makes him go back to sleep.

Bonding with "morfar"

Yesterday I dropped Jakob off at his old day care centre again. It has been renovated but is now nearly finished. The kitchen is still a few days away so today the children were going to get take away pizza for lunch. Jakob was very excited both about being back at dagis and about the pizza. After dropping him off I went straight to mum and dad. Mum had a 60th birthday party to go to so Isak and I kept dad/morfar company.

I ended up staying there all day apart from a short trip to a children shop to look for a stroller to bring to Thailand and Australia. Mum went to celebrate Moas birthday later in the afternoon so dad and I had dinner together and watched some TV.

Bedtime

We all had a very nice day today and it was great to see Jakob playing so happily with his friends. Isak who missed his morning sleep had a long sleep in the middle of the day, and then refused to have an afternoon sleep. Not sure how the night is going to go but he woke up around 9pm (happens nearly never) and Adam and I had to go in there a couple of times before he went back to sleep.

Great afternoon

Isak and Lucas hanging out on the veranda.

Jakob and Moa kept asking for me to bring out the slide and because it felt a bit cold outside I didn't want to do it. In the end, when I wasn't watching, they unpacked it themselves, put it out on the lawn like in the picture and started undressing themselves. And said: Pleeeeeaaase mummy, can you help us with the water. I just couldn't say no to that :-) They were so cute.

To get them to eat and drink I had to turn of the water and offer them a smoothie.

Isak happy watching all the crazy kids!

The museum

After a very nice summer life is starting to get back to normal for most people. Many of my friends are going back to work after maternity leave and the children are starting child care again. There is still a few more weeks to go before they are all back to work so I am making the most of it. This morning I met up with Helena and the children and Maria and her children at the museum in the city. There area a couple of the exhibitions where the children are allowed to play and after a slow start Jakob, Moa and Alice were right in to playing in the grocery shop.
They made each other prestents and pretended buying and selling food and soap and other things.

Isak fell asleep in the car on the way there but woke up when I tried to transfer him to the pram. Often he can sleep for a few hours in the morning but today his morning sleep didn't last much more than 3 minutes.

After nearly two hours inside Moa, Jakob and Alice ran around outside before we decided to hurry up to get some lunch before it was too late...

Moas birthday party!

Moa turns 4 tomorrow but had her birthday party yesterday. It was a costume party and normally it is really hard to get Jakob to wear any form of custume. Yesterday Adam and I had the same thought, to dress him and Isak as soccer players. Adam took Jakob out in the morning to do some shopping and they bought shorts and t-shirt for Jakob and socks for both Isak and Jakob.
Jakob looked SO cool!

Kicking the ball like a real soccer player!

Jakob happy with the bag he got at the treasure hunt.
